KNOCKOUT CUP FINAL 2024/25

BAND CLUB ARE CUP WINNERS!

The final of our season end Knockout Cup was contested by Band Club and Original Swan.

Band Club dented any hopes Original Swan had of winning the cup in the first leg after inflicting them to a 1-4 home loss.

The second leg was close with Band Club managing to win 3-2 to run out 7-3 winners across both legs.

Congratulations Band Club on becoming cup winners, commiserations Original Swan on finishing as runner-up, better luck next season.

In the semi-finals, Band Club beat Sir Robert Peel, whilst Original Swan beat Swan Inn.

LEAGUE 2024/25

SIR ROBERT PEEL ARE LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations Sir Robert Peel on going one better than runner-up in 2023/24 to become League Champions for 2024/25.

The minor placing's were up for grabs in the final week of fixtures, as only 2 points separated 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed teams.

The stand out fixture in the final week pitted 2nd placed Band Club (66pts.) at home against 4th placed Swan Inn (64pts.), while 3rd placed Seven Stars (65pts.) were at home against bottom of the table Anchor Inn.

Swan Inn finished as runner-up with 70 points, moving up from 4th place with a resounding 6-1 win away at Band Club who finished with 67 points.

For the second season running Seven Stars finished in third place with 67 points after their 2-5 defeat at home to Anchor Inn, who pulled themselves off the bottom of the table with 52 points.

Seven Stars finished in 3rd place by virtue of having won most fixtures (2-1) in their 3 fixtures played against Band Club, as was the case in season 2023/24.

BILL BULLEN 2024/25

ANCHOR INN ARE BILL BULLEN CHAMPIONS!

After a topsy-turvy season in which the leaders of the Bill Bullen table had changed hands many times, it is Anchor Inn that find themselves as surprise Champions after their 1-0 win away at Seven Stars and other results going in their favour.

Original Swan, the leaders going into the final round of fixtures, were demoted to runner-up after suffering a shock 1-0 home defeat to bottom of the table Sir Robert Peel, who could not replicate their league form, managing only 4 wins from 18 games.

Swan Inn finished in third place after their 1-0 win away at Band Club.

As all 3 teams finished with identical records, the outcome for positions were decided by how each team faired against each other.

Anchor Inn finish in first position by virtue of beating both Original Swan and Swan Inn 2-1 in the 3 fixtures played between the teams.

Original Swan finish in second position by virtue of beating Swan Inn 2-1 in the 3 fixtures played between the teams.

PAIRS COMPETITION 2024/25

The final was contested by the two pairings entered by Swan Inn.

Congratulations go to Derek Wane and Dave McDermott on becoming Champions.

Derek finally becomes a Champion after 20 years of trying in his 4th attempt in the final, having previously lost in years 2005, 2019 and 2022.

In the best of 3 games final, Derek and Dave beat team-mates Mick McGarry and Kevin Truby 2-0.

Mick was also beaten in last years final... maybe 3rd time lucky next season?

In the semi-finals, Derek and Dave beat Alan and Gill Pemberton (Anchor Inn) 2-1, whilst Mick and Kevin beat Mark Jackson and Gary Carr (White Bull) 2-0.

Thank you to everyone that entered, without your support this competition would not be competed.

Also, many thanks to Dave McDermott and volunteers for officiating this event in my absence, and to Brownedge and bar staff for hosting.

All results can be found on the 'Pairs Competition' page.
